Whiskey in the jar – Svikefulle Mari

REF:
Mush a ringam a duram da,  whack fol the daddyo
Whack fol the daddy o, there’s whisky in the jar.

Farewll to Carlingford

When I was young and in my prime and could wander wild and free
There was always a longing in my mind to follow the call of the sea
REF:
So I sing farewell to Carlingford and farewell to Greenore
and I'll think of you both day and night until I return once more
til I return once more

On all of the stormy seven seas I have sailed before the mast
And on every voyage I ever made I swore it would be my last

REF:
Now I had a girl called Mary Doyle and she lived in Greenore
And the foremost thought that was in her mind was to keep me safe on shore

REF:
Now the landsmans life is all his own, he can go or he can stay
But when the sea gets in your blood, when she calls you must obey

So I sing farewell to Carlingford and farewell to Greenore
and I'll think of you both day and night until I return once more
til I return once more

So I sing farewell to Carlingford and farewell to Greenore
and I'll think of you both day and night until I return once more
til I return once more

Johnny Jump Up

I’ll tell ye a story that happened to me
One day as I went out to Youghal by the sea
The sun it was bright and the day it was warm
Say’s I, A quiet pint wouldn’t do me no harm.

I went in and I called for a bottle of stout
Says the barman, I’m sorry, all the beer is sold out
Try whiskey or paddy, ten years in the wood
Say’s I, I’ll try cider, I’ve heard it was good.

REF.
Oh never, Oh never, Oh never again
If I live to be a hundred or hundred and ten
I fell to the ground and I couldn’t get up
After drinking a quart of the Johnny Jump Up

After downing the third I went out to the yard
Where I bumped into Brody, the big civic quard
Come here to me boy, don’t you know I’m the law?
Well, I up with me fist and I shattered his jaw

He fell to the ground with his knees doubled up
But it wasn’t I hit him, ‘twas Johnny Jump Up
The nex thing I saw down the Youghal by the sea
Was a cripple on crutches and says he to me

I’m afraid of me life I’ll be hit by a car
Won’t you help me across to the Railwayman’s Bar
After drinking a quart of that cider so sweet
He threw down his crutches and danced on his feet
